Team USA Wins Too Close For Comfort Exhibition Game Over Australia 98–92 In Abu Dhabi

"We gave up a ton of points at the basket back cuts, offensive boards, and so the game shifted and it's a good lesson for us," Team USA coach Steve Kerr said. "Better to learn that lesson now than later. And this will be a good tape for us to watch."

It's important not to overreact, but the US Men's Basketball team was up by just four points with 30 seconds to go into today's 98-92 win over Australia in Abu Dhabi. The reality is they built a significant lead in the 4th quarter and then pulled their first-tier players out only to watch the B-team let things get a little too close for comfort.

The U.S. men's basketball team won its second straight game over a medal contender, but clearly, they would have liked to dominate the always-tough Aussies.

"We gave up a ton of points at the basket back cuts, offensive boards, and so the game shifted and it's a good lesson for us," Team USA coach Steve Kerr said. "Better to learn that lesson now than later. And this will be a good tape for us to watch."

"We can't get comfortable. I think the third quarter we came out and got super comfortable, took our foot off the gas," Anthony Edwards said. "I think the second group shares the ball a lot more than the first group as far as us and myself. So we got to do a better job of getting each other involved."

"I think we made a big improvement on both ends of the floor," Anthony Davis said. "You got 12 guys on the team who all elite players, the best guys on their team and so it gets tough when you're trying to play with each other and trying to figure it out and you're trying to make the right reads and make the right pass."

Next up the team will play Nikola Jokic Serbian team on July 17th in Abu Dhabi.
