Penix who threw for nearly 5,000 yards last season at the University of Washington turned the team into a legit contender for the National Championship. His ability to read defenses and his deep ball accuracy and overall anticipation set him apart from all the other QBs in the 2024 NFL Draft with Caleb Williams being the one exception.
Sure he is not going to be one of the top 3 QBs taking, but injuries aside he probably should be. My guess is years from now, people are going to look back at the draft and say can you believe 25 teams passed him up. Teams that probably would move down into the later portions of the first round of the NFL draft to grab Penix include the Raiders, Seahawks, Rams, Saints, Steelers, Broncos, and the Vikings if something goes terribly wrong with J.J. McCarthy and Drake Maye.
