Pels Flat Out Steal Dejounte Murray From Hawks in Trade
Every once in a while, an NBA deal goes down, which is hard to explain, and this Dejounte Murray to the New Orleans Pelicans deal for Larry Nance Jr. falls into that hard-to-explain category. In fact, I would categorize this deal as highway robbery of the Atlanta Hawks.

Yes, the Hawks did score two first-round draft picks and Dyson Daniels from the Pelicans, but in terms of getting what I'm sure other teams would have been willing to give up for Murrary, the only way to explain this is to say the Hawks got fleeced in this deal.
As part of the deal, the Pelicans are sending back first-round picks in 2025 and 2027, center Larry Nance Jr. and guard Dyson Daniels, to Atlanta. The first-round picks were originally owned by the Los Angeles Lakers and the Milwaukee Bucks, which basically means they will not be lottery picks.
The question is, why would the Hawks actually hold a firesale on Murrary when they could have received so much more? What do they know that we don't, or is this the first step in a total rebuild, which could indicate that Trae Young may be on the trading block at a discount price?
