76ers Ownership Launch Operation Keep The Knicks Fans Out of Wells Fargo Arena Ahead of Game 6

76ers Owners Team Up With Fanatics To Buy 2,000 Tickets To Keep Knicks Fans Out Of Game 6

May 2, 2024

So what do you do to keep New York Knicks fans from taking over your arena for game 6 of the upcoming playoff game? You buy a bunch of tickets and distribute them to Philadelphia 76ers fans.

The feel-good portion of this story is that, according to Crossing Broad, seats will be given to first responders, healthcare professionals, community groups, and local organizers ahead of Game 6.

Operation Keep the Knicks fans out of Wells Fargo Arena was engineered by 76ers majority owners Josh Harris, David Blitzer, and David Adelman, who teamed up with former minority owner Michael Rubin, the current head of Fanatics, to buy 2,000 tickets for Thursday's Game 6.

The super loud Knicks fans in Philadelphia didn't sit well with 76ers forward Joel Embiid, who called it "disappointing."

"I love our fans. Think it's unfortunate," Embiid said. "And I'm not calling them out, but it is disappointing. Obviously, you've got a lot of Knicks fans and they're down the road. Never seen it, and I've been here for 10 years. Kind of pisses me off, especially because Philly is considered a sports town. So they've always shown up, and I don't think that should happen. It's not OK."

THE UNDERRATED OPINION

This is certainly a nice gesture by the 76ers to give tickets to first responders, but do you really think their efforts are going to silence the Knicks fans? I think they have poked the bear and the 76ers are not going to like what they hear during game 6.
