Kings Did What Lakers Can't Do - They Sign DeMar DeRozan

The Sacramento Kings did what Rob Pelinka and the Los Angeles Lakers couldn't figure out—they signed DeMar DeRozan to a three-year $74 million contract.

The Kings scored themselves as one of the most productive players in NBA free agency, and it didn't cost them Paul George money to do it. DeRozan, who is one of the best mid-range players in the NBA, has shown no signs of slowing down over the past couple of seasons, as he averaged over 24 points per game last season with the Chicago Bulls.

From a team perspective, at least on paper, this looks like an excellent fit, and with DeRozan on the court, the Kings now have another player who can close out games.

THE UNDERRATED OPINION
In my opinion, what seems like a deal going unnoticed is the most impactful of all deals done during the NBA free-agency period so far. Yes, Klay Thompson is now with the Mavs, and Paul George is set to play with the 76ers, but both players have shown signs over the past couple of years that are starting to sky down the backside of Career Mountain.
