John Calipari's SURPRISING MOVE TO ARKANSAS shows he desperately wanted out of Kentucky

Vampire or basketball coach? I like to kid John Calipari, but seriously you can tell he has sucked all of the blood out of Kentucky Wildcats Athletics Director, Mitch Barnhart in this painfully, partially hilarious, awkward TV interview two weeks ago.

Barnhart had just publicly confirmed Calipari would return to lead the men’s basketball program for a 16th season. Now, the coach under fire and his longtime athletic director had to set aside any remaining tension and attempted to present a united front when discussing the future of Kentucky basketball.

Insisting the notion that he and Calipari had no relationship was “garbage” and “misinformation,” Barnhart likened their partnership to that of a “semi-married” couple. When Calipari interrupted to ask if Barnhart ever had an argument with his wife, Barnhart replied, "Just occasionally. I think you and I have too."

That entire conversation is hilarious to watch, especially considering the shocking news that broke on Sunday night on the eve of the men’s national title game. The “semi-marriage” between Calipari and Kentucky is over. Calipari, per numerous reports, is finalizing a five-year deal to become the next head coach at Arkansas.

Now for Calipari to leave one of the highest-profile jobs in college basketball to take a job at Arkansas, he had to be desperate to move on from Kentucky.

He must have concluded that he was never going to recapture the glory from his early days at Kentucky, you know back when the Wildcats were competing for national championships.

THE UNDERRATED LINE
It was way back in the year 2012 when Calipari’s team won their last national championship and I should point out that it is not in any way surprising that after 15 years, he would be ready to move on from Kentucky. I think what is surprising, is that he didn’t jump on the USC job when it opened up. Nothing against Arkansas, but Southern California, is Southern California for a reason. Can you imagine Calipari rolling up to Nobu in Malibu looking like a sun-tanned vampire?
