Frank Vogel Fired By Phoenix Suns, Mike Budenholzer Already Being Floated As New Head Coach

Clearly, the Suns are playing a game of who can handle coaching Kevin Durant, Bradley Beal, and Devin Booker with a wide variety of average role players - one thing is certain Frank Vogel could not, as he was let go earlier in the day by the Phoenix Suns.

Vogel did a decent job with the Suns, posting a 49-33 record. Still, the Suns were swept by the Minnesota Timberwolves, and unconfirmed stories that Kevin Durant was not happy with Vogel surfaced after the Suns' early exit.

It was pretty clear to everyone following the Suns that Vogel had lost the looker room and that change was most likely coming. In Vogels' defense, he was handed a roster with no point guard and very little power-forward depth.  

Having three great players is one thing, but only the successful superteams succeed when they have the right role players built into the roster.

Adrian Wojnarowski reported on Thursday afternoon that Former Milwaukee Bucks head coach Mike Budenholzer has emerged as the "frontrunner" to replace Vogel in Phoenix. The report came just hours after the Suns fired Vogel.

I know we live in a fast-food society, but the Suns leaking that they are thinking about Mike Budenholzer as the Vogel news is breaking seems a little disrespectful to Frank Vogel.

Regardless of who wins the gig as the Suns' new head coach, the team will need a better-constructed roster surrounding its three superstars. Without that, the team may look for its fourth coach in four years next May.
