With the 7th pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft went Angel Reese, but based on her performance this season if the draft were held again today, do you really think she would be available at 7? The answer is no way.
Reese, who won the WNBA's Rookie of the Month for June, has absolutely proven that she is a force to be reckoned with in the WNBA. Combine her on-the-court play, off-the-court following, and brashness in press conferences, she, along with Caitlin Clark, has turned into must-see TV.
She had a great June, averaging 14.5 points, 13.2 rebounds, and 1.8 assists per game. She also set a new league rookie record, posting a double-double in 10 consecutive games, the most in WNBA history.
"I'm a dog. You can't teach that" Reese said in her on-court interview after the June 23 game. "I'mma go out and do whatever it takes to win every single night. My teammates rely on my energy, so being able to continue the energy -- even if we're down, even if we're up -- that's what I do."
"She's gonna continue to do what she does. That's who she is," Sky head coach Teresa Weatherspoon said, per ESPN. "She's always gonna come out and play hard and confident and give you everything that she has. She's the hardest person on herself, so proud of what she's doing and what she'll continue to do."
