CP3 Gets To Play With Wemby; Signs 1-year $11M Deal With Spurs

Chris Paul has had an interesting day. First, he was released by Steph Curry's Golden State Warriors, then he was signed by Victor Wembanyama's San Antonio Spurs.

The deal is for one year and $11 million-plus, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

Being released by the Warriors was not surprising, but joining Wemby was a great move for both Paul and the Spurs, who desperately need some veteran leadership on the court. Paul, who last season averaged 9.2 points, 6.8 assists, 3.9 rebounds, and 1.2 steals per game while shooting 44.1% from the floor and 37.1% from the 3-point arc.

Paul joins a young Spurs with Victor Wembanyama and Tre Jones. The Spurs added two-way UConn shooting guard Stephon Castle to their backcourt with the fourth pick in the NBA Draft.

Clearly, this an excellent signing for Wemby and the rest of the young Spurs who will look to build on Wemby's rookie of the year with a push towards the playoffs.
