No surprise here - LeBron James has agreed on a two-year max deal worth $104M to remain with the Los Angeles Lakers.
As expected, the deal includes a player option and a no-trade clause, keeping him locked in L.A. for the next few years. The 39-year-old is the oldest active player in the NBA, but even after 21 years in the NBA, he shows very few signs of slowing down: James averaged 25.7 points, 7.3 rebounds, and 8.3 assists in 35 minutes per game last season.
During the 2024 All-Star weekend in February, James said that he wanted to retire as a Laker.
"I am a Laker, and I've been very happy being a Laker the last six years, and hopefully it stays that way," James said just before his record-breaking 20th All-Star appearance.
Now, James will have the opportunity at some point to play with his son Bronny James, who was drafted by the Lakers last month. The real question is, will the Lakers be able to find a way to bring in another key free agent like DeMar DeRozan?
