What looked like and, at times, sounded like a home game for the visiting Indiana Fever turned into an 81-74 upset win for the Fever over the Minnesota Lynx at Target Center on Sunday afternoon.
Caitlin Clark had a poor first three quarters in Sunday's game against the Minnesota Lynx but came up big-time in the fourth with 10 of 17 points coming in the fourth to lead the Indiana Fever to a win over the Lynx. Indiana outscored Minnesota 28-14 in the fourth.
Clark, from Des Moines, Iowa, grew up going to Lynx games, idolizing Lynx stars Maya Moore and Seimone Augustus.
To be fair, the Lynx were missing Napheesa Collier and coming off a tough 30-point loss to Seattle earlier this week. Clark was cold from the floor (5-of-17) but scored 10 in the 4th and finished with 17 points and six assists. Aliyah Boston delivered 17 points and a career-high 16 rebounds, while Kelsey Mitchell led the Fever with 21 points.
Boston nabs a first-half double-double, extending her new double-double streak to two games. Clark's streak came to an end today after five games with consecutive double-doubles.
THE UNDERRATED OPINION
The Indiana Fever are improving, and they appear to be able to play with just about anybody. Certainly, specific match-up issues will still cause the team trouble, but the team that started out 1-8 is now 11 and 14 and heading in the right direction.
